Straitjacket Bush
The president's warmongering remarks on the Iranian threat suggest he is psychotic. Really.

Forget impeachment.
Liberals, put it behind you. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney shouldn't be treated like criminals who deserve punishment. They should be treated like psychotics who need treatment.
Because they've clearly gone mad. Exhibit A: We're in the middle of a disastrous war in Iraq, the military and political situation in Afghanistan is steadily worsening, and the administration's interrogation and detention tactics have inflamed anti-Americanism and fueled extremist movements around the globe. Sane people, confronting such a situation, do their best to tamp down tensions, rebuild shattered alliances, find common ground with hostile parties and give our military a little breathing space. But crazy people? They look around and decide it's a great time to start another war.

Libby's sentence not unusually long
Though Bush calls the 30-month prison term 'excessive,' records show defendants convicted of similar crimes served jail time.

WASHINGTON — In commuting the sentence of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, President Bush said that the former vice presidential aide had suffered enough and that the 30-month prison term ordered up by a federal judge was "excessive."
But records show that the Justice Department under the Bush administration frequently has sought sentences that are as long, or longer, in cases similar to Libby's. Three-fourths of the 198 defendants sentenced in federal court last year for obstruction of justice — one of four crimes Libby was found guilty of in March — got some prison time. According to federal data, the average sentence defendants received for that charge alone was 70 months.

The number of U.S.-paid private contractors in Iraq now exceeds that of American combat troops, newly released figures show, raising fresh questions about the privatization of the war effort and the government's capacity to carry out military and rebuilding campaigns.

Rove, others were warned to save e-mails
By Tom Hamburger
Times Staff Writer
WASHINGTON — Karl Rove and other White House employees were cautioned in employee manuals, memos and briefings to carefully save any e-mails that might discuss official matters even if those messages came from private e-mail accounts, the White House disclosed Friday.
Despite these cautions, e-mails from Rove and others discussing official business may have been deleted and are now missing.

Officials' e-mail may be missing, White House says
The messages, on a private system, are wanted by Congress in a probe of the firings of eight U.S. attorneys.
By Tom Hamburger
LA Times Staff Writer
WASHINGTON — The White House said Wednesday that it may have lost what could amount to thousands of messages sent through a private e-mail system used by political guru Karl Rove and at least 50 other top officials, an admission that stirred anger and dismay among congressional investigators.
The e-mails were considered potentially crucial evidence in congressional inquiries launched by Democrats into the role partisan politics may have played in such policy decisions as the firing of eight U.S. attorneys.

Giuliani foes hope 9/11 changes everything
Critics want to mar his hero image and hobble his candidacy by questioning his moves.

WASHINGTON — Many Americans know Rudolph W. Giuliani only from his performance in the smoke and ashes of the Sept. 11 attacks on New York — a steely image that has propelled him atop the polls in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Now, some groups at the center of the 9/11 experience are laying aggressive plans to tarnish that image and undermine the central pillar of his candidacy.

This Bush quote says it all: "It's going to require new technologies, which tend to be expensive, and it's easier to afford expensive technologies if you're prosperous."
According to that logic we can just go on destroying the environment as long as it makes corporations lots of money. What an asshole.

If this isn't enough to make you want to puke then I don't know what to say.
A criminal administration laughing it up and getting all cozy with their big media buddies, who let corrupt politicians and corporations get away with anything and everything, all for the sake of their own personal careers and invitations to these type of events.
I mean what is the purpose of this other than to buddy up to the people who are supposed to be keeping an eye on you? These groups should not be buddies. Ok, they don't have to be venom spitting foes, but they can't be sleeping in the same f-ing bed. Amazing. Yuking it up with one of the biggest criminals of modern times, just because he holds a particular office and because it's good for your career.
