Masters of The Obvious - Housing

It only took these geniuses two years AFTER the second derivative peak of the housing market to figure this out. Brilliant. Click through to read the summary.
The Center for Responsible Lending, a North Carolina nonprofit says 2.2 million subprime housing loans (15% of the total) will be foreclosured. The study blames lenders for failing to (1) reasonably determine whether borrowers would be able to pay their loans after rates went up, and (2) check the borrowers' income claims. In 1998, subprime loans represented 24% of total mortgages outstanding, today they represent 62%. The rise of subprime loans created a probably lose, lose, lose situation as borrowers (A) can’t make their monthly payments, (B) can’t refinance because home values have declined, and/or (C) can’t sell and repay their loans because they owe more than their houses are worth. [Now for the most obvious comment of them all.] These problems could lead to a hard landing for the housing sector, which could lead to a recession.
